Yesterday’s Build event, held in conjunction with the Greater Iowa City Area HBA, showcased significant development projects across multiple cities in Johnson County, with a strong focus on infrastructure, housing, and commercial growth. In Tiffin, major projects like the North Park Road and Highway 6 urbanization efforts are underway, alongside numerous residential and commercial opportunities.
Iowa City, Coralville, and North Liberty are seeing transformative changes. Iowa City’s Replay Iowa project will add nearly 300 residential units, while the Alpla, Inc. Learning and Development Facility is set to create 36 new jobs and a large investment in the community. In Coralville, construction valuations continue to grow, with projects like CIVCO Medical Solutions, multiple hotel developments, and major residential expansions such as Forevergreen Heights and Auburn Ridge Subdivisions as well as the upcoming Gather Iowa site. North Liberty will soon see the opening of Steindler Orthopedic and UI Health Care in addition to many residential and additional commercial projects.
Rural Johnson County has also had a flurry of activity with 26 residential and 2 commercial subdivisions. Lone Tree is in the early stages of a potential residential development and Solon is embarking on the largest infrastructure project in the history of their town with an anticipated completion date of July 2029 for a new wastewater treatment plant.
