Greater Iowa City, Inc. is proud to support Watts Group’s new Sunset Prairie development in North Liberty, a significant investment that will expand housing opportunities and help meet the demands of our growing workforce. Our staff attended the groundbreaking for the Sunset Prairie’s Phase 1 Development yesterday.
Sunset Prairie is located west of Liberty High School and connected by the Iowa River Corridor Trail, and is planned as Watts Group’s largest residential development to date. The community is expected to feature more than 350 lots and nearly 700 housing units once completed. Housing options include single-family homes, townhomes and multi-family residences.
“As our region continues to grow, housing availability remains one of the most important factors influencing workforce attraction and retention,” said Nancy Bird, CEO of Greater Iowa City, Inc. “We’re excited to see Watts Group investing in a development that will help current and future residents find quality housing close to jobs, schools, recreation and community amenities.”
“North Liberty has experienced remarkable growth over the past decade and Sunset Prairie is designed to create opportunities for more people and families to put down roots here while offering the connectivity and sense of community that residents are looking for,” said Gary Watts, President & CEO of Watts Group. “We’re proud to invest in the future of this region.”
The development’s location in North Liberty offers residents proximity to major employment centers throughout the region while providing direct access to trails, schools, and neighborhood amenities. North Liberty is one of the fastest-growing communities in our state.
