Greater Iowa City, Inc. welcomed more than 90 attendees to the 2026 BUILD Johnson County: City–County Update, hosted on March 4 at the former ACT Campus in Iowa City. The annual BUILD event, sponsored by Mediacom, convened leaders from across the development, construction, architecture, and engineering communities for a timely regional update and meaningful connection with public-sector partners.
The program featured updates from municipal leaders representing Iowa City, Coralville, North Liberty, Tiffin, and Johnson County, offering insight into current development activity, infrastructure planning, and upcoming public projects shaping the region and included Geoff Fruin (City of Iowa City), Dave Johnson (City of Coralville), Ryan Rusnak (City of North Liberty), Doug Boldt (City of Tiffin), and Nate Mueller (Johnson County Planning & Development). The lineup provided a comprehensive snapshot of how communities across Johnson County are planning for growth and investment and current projects underway.
In addition to the municipal perspectives, attendees heard from the team behind Bright Side and Good Habit, who shared insights tied to development and placemaking at the former ACT campus site, an especially fitting setting for a conversation focused on reinvestment and future opportunity.
Following the formal presentations, attendees engaged in questions, discussion, and networking, reinforcing BUILD’s role as a forum for collaboration between the private development community and local governments. The event generated strong interest and enthusiasm around upcoming projects and long-term planning efforts across Johnson County and this year was no exception.
