BACKGROUND
The Iowa City Area Chamber of Commerce was founded in 1936 and is currently nearly 800 members strong. Serving Johnson County, with a population of over 130,000, our mission is to actively foster a better business environment. Recently recognized as one of the Top 25 Coolest Places to Work by our regional business journal, our team of seven is proud to have a work environment that is collaborative, respectful, fun and funny. We are looking for an additional team member who has a passion for this community, customer service mindset, collaborative work-style, continuous improvement drive, and a sense of humor!
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Plan and manage logistics for the Community Leadership Program
Plan and manage logistics for informational/educational programming on relevant business topics
Plan and manage logistics for targeted affinity networks and member-led working committees
Coordinate administration of scholarship programs
Provide leadership, management, and accountability
Live the organization_s values
Plan and manage logistics for the Community Leadership Program (CLP)
CLP is the Chamber_s longstanding flagship program, running year-long with 30 participants per class. Specific duties include:
Coordinate selection process
Run orientation for the new class
Respond to class member inquiries
Send agendas and pre-work to class
Coordinate Programming Committee meetings
Manage logistics for each session (food order, parking, travel, etc.)
Work with Marketing to improve branding and marketing of program
Coordinate milestone celebrations of the program
Design and coordinate programming for alumni
Plan and manage logistics for informational/educational programming on relevant business topics
The Chamber would like to increase its programming to support informing/educating members on relevant business topics. Specific duties include:
Continuously collect feedback from members on topics of interest
Develop in-person programming (e.g., workshops, seminars, conferences)
Develop digital resources such as blogs, podcasts, videos/webinars, online resource sharing group, and on-demand learning
Create a library of resources available to members on-demand
Develop partnerships with educational content providers such as the University of Iowa, Kirkwood Community College, association partners (Iowa City Area Association of Realtors, Greater Iowa City Home Builders Association, Iowa Restaurant Association) and members with expertise in certain areas
Plan and manage logistics for targeted affinity networks and member-led working committees
The Chamber would like to develop programming to support certain demographics (e.g., growing/emerging industries, minority-owned businesses, young professionals, etc.). Specific duties include:
Develop program design and infrastructure
Identify targets
Recruit committee members and identify and onboard committee chairs
Jump-start programs, meetings and agendas
Track results and manage support of networks/committees as needed
Coordinate administration of scholarship programs
The Chamber currently provides an Ag-Bio Scholarship to two high school students and would like to grow the number of scholarships to include other targeted areas. Specific duties for the Ag-Bio Scholarship program include:
Email application form to school districts
Schedule interviews with selection committee
Disburse scholarship funds
Provide leadership, management, and accountability
Independently lead improvement initiatives within function
Hire/manage vendors, contractors, interns, etc. when necessary to get the work done
Track and report on weekly and quarterly goals
Manage budget
Represent the Chamber at various functions and meet with current and perspective members
Participate in shaping the future direction of the organization
