As the June 2 primary election approaches, Greater Iowa City, Inc. has created a Primary Election Voter Guide to help community members learn more about the candidates running for the Johnson County Board of Supervisors. While Greater IC does not typically create Voter Guides for primaries, we felt it necessary given the singular nature of this election with the shift from at-large to district voting and all five supervisor seats being up for election. We will also create a Voter Guide for the 2026 General Election in November.

Though Greater Iowa City, Inc. is a non-partisan entity and does not formally endorse or donate to political candidates, we do encourage our members to be informed about issues and vote for business and community-friendly candidates and initiatives when they go to the polls.

Find the full 2026 Primary Election Voter Guide at the bottom of the page. It may take a few moments to load.

At the beginning of the guide, you will find a Voter Toolkit where you can find your polling location, information on how to vote early, register to vote, and other voter-related resources. In order to vote in this primary, you must be registered to either of the two full-status parties (Democrat and Republican), though any voter is able to declare a party at the time they vote.

In addition to creating informational profiles on each candidate, we asked candidates to answer what they hope to accomplish while in office, how it will benefit the business community, and what they view as the Board’s role in supporting economic development. We also asked them to share how they work towards collaborative solutions and to provide their stance on potentially switching to a county manager form of government as Johnson County redevelops its strategic plan.

The guide also includes information on why the county is changing the format for its election process going forward, as well as the newly created district map for the Board of Supervisors.

We hope this Primary Voter Guide provides valuable insight on the Board of Supervisors candidates so that you are well informed when it is time to cast your vote on June 2. This is a pivotal election for our county, and we encourage you to make your voice heard.
