In the fall of 2024, we released our first-ever benchmark report for Johnson County. Greater IC’s 2024 Data Digest utilizes select business climate and quality of life data measures that are relevant and important for our county. All components of this initiative were selected from an iterative stakeholder engagement process in addition to Greater IC staff experience and expertise. Our Community Data Dashboard carries forward the work from our Data Digest through interactive, navigable visualizations.
In total, there are more than 30 data measures spanning eight sub-topics. For each measure within the report, we collected data for eight comparable counties nationwide in addition to Johnson County. The employed data measures heavily rely on publicly available data sources and reflect the most recent data available from that data source. By using publicly available data sources from credible agencies (e.g., U.S. Census Bureau, various state agencies), we have reliable and consistently collected information.
Benchmarking the same data points over time and comparing our county’s metrics to fair comparison counties provides a meaningful context for evaluating Johnson County’s performance.
