Annual Meeting Featured Speaker: Dr. Peter Kaboli
Dr. Peter Kaboli is a nationally-recognized physician, researcher and health care leader serving as Professor of Internal Medicine in the Division of General Internal Medicine at the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine and as Executive Director of the Veterans Health Administration Office of Rural Health.
Peter is a powerful choice for our Annual Meeting given our work with University of Iowa Healthcare the last year; we’ve worked with UI Healthcare to craft a comprehensive Community Connected Relocation Pilot designed to help prospective employees and their families create a future in Johnson County.
Dr. Kaboli’s work has made a significant impact on health care policy and patient outcomes, earning him recognition as a leading voice in rural health, health services research, and veteran care. At the Annual Meeting, he will share his Iowa story, why he chooses to live here today, and how we can collectively create the type of community where anyone can find their place and their people.
A University of Iowa graduate, Dr. Kaboli earned both his Doctor of Medicine and Master of Science in Epidemiology from the university before completing advanced training in internal medicine and general internal medicine. Throughout his career, he has focused on improving access to high-quality health care, particularly for rural populations and veterans.
As Executive Director of the VA Office of Rural Health, Dr. Kaboli leads national efforts to expand health care access and innovation for rural veterans across the country. He is also a core investigator with the VA’s Center for Comprehensive Access and Delivery Research and Evaluation (CADRE) and has authored more than 150 peer-reviewed publications on health care access, quality, telehealth, and rural health delivery.
